Making Personalized Learning Work for You
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Many educators struggle in the transition from an instruction-driven to a learning-driven approach because so much feels new. It is not always easy to find strategies to make the work feel manageable. While these feelings are natural, there are processes we can employ to create time, increase efficiency and preserve energy.

Join Jim for an interactive session that will feature quick, easy to implement approaches you can adopt and adapt with your learners. After a brief intro, participants will design the remainder of this fast-paced session - from a list of twenty possible strategies, the audience will vote to determine which strategies to dig into more deeply. You'll leave the session with a bank of ideas and tips to try in your classroom right away!

Reclaiming Personalized Learning to Restore Equity and Humanity
Technology is at the center of far too many models for personalized learning. Paul France experienced this first-hand when he worked as an educator at a personalized learning start-up in Silicon Valley. When technology is at the center of our models for personalization, learning quickly becomes dehumanized, taking us further away from equity and inclusion in our classrooms. By humanizing personalization, we can restore equity to our classrooms through a human-centered pedagogy that leverages collective, small-group, and individualized practices. In this keynote session, Paul will help participants debunk five myths for personalized learning, explore the differences between humanized and dehumanized personalization, and pave a path to equity through sustainable pedagogy and the restoration of humanity in personalized classrooms.

Creating Equity through CBE and Personalized Learning
Limited Capacity seats available

Over the years I have had many conversations with educators seeking information about CBE and personalized learning. Often people made comments about it only working for “highly motivated”, “middle class”, “upper tier” students. The more I worked in the personalized learning environments, I found it was for ALL students and was very successful with students that did not fit in the academic box. How do we create equity for all learners through personalized learning? How can you do it with fidelity and reach the full potential of all students? Shifting mindsets to focus on culture, future-ready skills and meeting each student where they are at is a starting point. Come share where you are on your journey and brainstorm ideas on how to create equity for all students through a culture shift. Leave with concrete ideas to tighten culture and curriculum while expanding on future-ready skills while eliminating bias.
