Overwhelmed by the diverse needs of all your students? We have been there! We've had years when some of our students were struggling to understand prefixes and suffixes while others were still learning the letters of the alphabet! We found teaching lessons to the whole class to be ineffective for almost everyone, but when we shifted to a more personalized approach, we found it difficult to organize and track what every student needed to work on to improve their reading abilities. We didn't just want to give our students worksheets, busy work, or stick them on a computer - we wanted to provide them with hands-on educational experiences targeting the specific skills they needed to learn.

Our solution? The Primary Personalized Learning curriculum. It is a collection of hands-on activities, aligned with the Common Core State Standards, that target specific pre-reading and reading skills. We created a quick assessment tool for each skill so that we can identify specific areas of need and track mastery of skills to ensure students are always working at their optimal instructional level. In this session, we will provide an overview of our personalized approach to teaching reading in the primary grade levels. Hope to see you there!
